JV Ejercito concedes defeat, Comelec proclaims winning senators

The Senate’s ‘Magic 12’ remains unchanged despite the delay of the canvassing of votes for United States and Saudi Arabia.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has canvassed votes from Washington D.C Tuesday midnight allowing the National Board of Canvassers to finish all 167 Certificates of Canvass (COC).

The poll body is expected to proclaim the winning senators and party-list groups today.

Senator Cynthia Villa maintains finishes at the top spot with 25,283,727 votes. Reelectionist Senator Grace Poe is at second place with 22,029,788. Former Special Assistant to the President Bong Go ranks third with 20,657,702.

Pia Cayetano is at fourth place with 19,789,019 votes. Garnering 19,0004,225 votes is former PNP Chief Ronald Bato Dela Rosa.

Sonny Angara, Lito Lapid, Imee Marcos. Francis Tolentino, Koko Pimentel and Bong Revilla are also in.

Senator Nancy Binay secured the 12th spot with 14,624,445 votes. Closely at 13th place is Senator JV Ejercito with 14,313,727.

In a tweet Ejercito thanks his supporters for giving him the opportunity to serve. Ejercito is behind landmark laws like Universal Healthcare Law and creation of a Department of Housing.

“Kunin ko na ang pagkakataon magpasalamat sa Sambayanang Pilipino sa pagkakataon na ako ay nakapaglingkod bilang Senador ng ating bansa. Isang karangalan na kayo ay paglingkuran.Will be walking away from the Senate with my integrity intact. Salamat po sa pagmamahal!” Ejercito said in a tweet.
