26 local narco-politicians win in polls

UPDATED: The Philippine National Police (PNP) has bared that 26 local politicians, who were allegedly linked to the illegal drug trade, won in last Monday’s midterm elections.

Local network media reported that PNP Director-General Oscar Albayalde said there actually were 37 “narco-politicians” who ran for public office. Some were even elected mayor and governor, while some are in Central Luzon and Southern Tagalog regions.

Albayalde said police are still investigating the winning narco-politicians.
