DFA evacuate 11 Pinoys from Libya

At least 11 Filipino workers in Libya have been evacuated on Thursday, according to Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Elmer G. Cato.

This brings the total number of evacuees to 55, since the armed conflict in Libya escalated last month.

Cato, in his social media post, said the evacuees will be flown back to Manila on Saturday.

The Philippine government has enforced a mandatory evacuation of Filipino workers in the Libyan capital of Tripoli and other conflict-torn areas within its 100-kilometer radius due to the worsening security situation.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has earlier placed Libya under Alert Level 4 wherein all Filipinos are asked to leave and join the ongoing evacuation activities offered by the Philippine government.
