Ambassador Quintana heads to Philippines to deliver votes from Filipinos in UAE

Votes from Filipinos who have registered to cast their ballot for the 2019 Midterm Elections have been consolidated and transmitted to the COMELEC servers and all certificates of canvass (COCs) will now be personally delivered by Ambassador Hjayceelyn Quintana to the Philippines.

Ambassador Quintana will be boarding a Philippine Airlines flight headed back home today, May 17 around 7:35 pm UAE time and is expected to land in the country by 8:40 am Philippine time.

The ambassador wishes to extend her gratitude to the embassy, consulate, poll watchers, and Filipino community support groups who ensured a smooth and peaceful election in the UAE. “I wish to commend our embassy and consulate staff (including staff from our Philippine Overseas Labor Offices or POLOs) who have been deputized by COMELEC to oversee the conduct of the elections as well as the countless volunteers from the Filipino community for their selfless service during the voting period. Congratulations for a job well done,” said Quintana.

She also lauded their efforts for performing their electoral duties apart from their day-to-day duties, serving the Filipino public for their consular and passport requirements: “For the Embassy and Consulate staff, they did it for straight 1 month on top of their regular duties, no weekends and no holidays. Our volunteers did the same, taking time off from work and using their own resources to make sure they were in the precincts at the prescribed time, acting as watchers and guides.”
