An Ethiopian woman stands trial after allegedly stabbing her newborn baby to death.
According to local reports, the accused did not know who the father of her child was as she engaged in illicit relationships.
The housemaid, who used to work for an Arab family in Abu Dhabi, kept her pregnancy a secret and gave birth in an abandoned house.
Witnesses said she stabbed her own baby to death after delivering him but the accused denied that she intentionally murdered her newborn.
In her defense, her counsel said the woman has been suffering mental health and psychological problems. However, psychological tests suggested that she was in a normal state when she delivered her baby.
The housemaid is facing charges of illicit relationship and murder.
