Comelec intercepts sacks of rice suspected to be for vote buying

Officials of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) intercepted dozens of sacks of rice they suspected would be used to buy votes in Koronadal City, Cotabato.

Comelec officials intercepted the sacks of rice after they received a report from concerned citizens, according to GMA News.

The sacks of rice are in a barangay hall in Koronadal City.

The owner of the sacks of rice, whose name was withheld pending investigation results, may be charged with an election offense if proven to be involved in vote buying, officials said.

The businessman however maintained that the sacks of rice were only for loaning.
