An informal car race in Al Ain on Wednesday evening led to the death of four people, including two women simply passing by the road, while one sustained injuries from the crash.
The Abu Dhabi Police said the incident occurred on the Al Nasiriyah road when the speeding cars suddenly changed lanes, causing one of them to crash into a light post which killed its driver and passenger.
The other car hit and ran over two women that were crossing the road through the pedestrian lane, killing them on the spot.
The police warned motorists against engaging in illegal racing and to abide by traffic rules at all times.
