LOOK: Pinay climber wears Filipiniana at Mt. Everest

For adventurer like Bianca Lawas, wearing her Filipino pride must be taken to the highest level.

When talking about the highest level, it means wearing a red Filipiniana terno and proudly raising the Philippine flag as she reached Mt. Everest’s base camp, which is 5,364 meters above sea level.

Lawas proudly posted the photo and made it her cover photo on her Facebook account.

She even has to brave the cold weather there as she posted that the temperature when the picture was taken was at -15 degrees Celsius.

Her post garnered 2,500 plus reactions and was shared 1,512 times as of this writing.

Lawas was able to reach the mountain’s base camp on April 22.

She also documented her trip there in an album she entitled “Everest Base Camp Trek 2019”.

Lawas was with five of her friends when they made the climb.

In an interview with Inquirer.net, Lawas recalled how she wanted to give up on the 6th day during their climb. It took the group 10 days to reach to mountain’s base camp.

Rest helped her regained her strength and finish the whole trek.

Where was her red Filipiniana terno gown during this time?

Lawas shared that it was in her backpack that weighed 12 kilograms.

Good thing though that the gown’s fabric was made of light materials so it wasn’t really a burden for her to carry.
