Drug ring eyed in cop’s slay

A big drug syndicate is being implicated as the mastermind behind the killing of a policeman assigned under the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Provincial Intelligence Branch, according to the head of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7).

In a press conference, Police Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas, director of PRO-7, said they believe the killing was a retaliation on the part of the drug group against CPPO for their series of anti-drug operation in Cebu.

Police Master Sgt. Junard Cinco was gunned down earlier this morning by two armed men on board a motorcycle.

Cinco was also on board a motorcycle together with his wife when the shooting incident happened in Barangay Media Once in Toledo City, Cebu.

Sinas pointed the group of drug lord Steve Go is behind the killing of the cop.

Cinco was previously assigned to conduct a surveillance of Gerly Luwage, a high-value target whose cohort was killed in another anti-drug operation by Police Capt. Alejandro Batobalonos in an apartment in Basak San Nicholas, Cebu City yesterday.

Luwage is part of Go’s drug group operating in Talisay City.

Go was killed inside the city jail in Mandaue City last year.
