School schedule in UAE during Ramdan announced

In line with the celebration of Ramadan, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has released the schedule for schools during the holy season.

In a statement with Khaleej Times, Mohammed Darwish, Chief Executive Officer of Permits and Compliance at KHDA said that school schedules will be shortened during the holy month.

“The school day during Ramadan will start between 8:00 to 8:30am and finish between 1:00 to 1:30pm, with shorter breaks as required.

Schools should ensure that the total hours at school per day for students do not exceed five hours,” Darwish was quoted as saying.

He also added: “Fasting students will be exempt from physical education (PE) classes and any other demanding physical activities without influencing their grades and overall academic performance.

All students must be protected from the risks of exhaustion and dehydration.”

The International Astronomical Centre has predicted on Sunday that the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan will be on May 6th in most of the Islamic nations.
