Dubai expat to be deported for forging RTA ticket worth Dh2

An expat in Dubai is facing deportation for trying to get away with a parking violation by forging a ticket worth Dh2.

The Dubai Court of First Instance heard the case of the 44-year-old Bangladeshi motorist who tampered a parking ticket by changing the date so that he can get free parking.

An inspector of the Roads and Transportation Authority (RTA) was doing his rounds when he found the fake ticket on the dashboard of the defendant’s car.

The RTA inspector immediately called the police after he found the tampered ticket. The defendant changed the date of the expired Dh2 ticket from March 3 to March 5.

The man was also sentenced to a suspended jail term of three months.

The court ruling remains subject to appeal.
