A law in Bahrain guarantees its workers paid days leave up to 49 days in a year, the highest number in the world according to a study conducted by resume.io, a resume-writing online service.
The 49 days paid off compose of 30 days annual paid vacation leave and 19 paid public holidays including Eid Al Fitr, Eid Al Adha, Arafat Day, National Day, Ashoora, and the Prophet’s Birthday.
Employees, depending on the policy of their company, can also get an additional number of day off without salary deduction as sick leaves and maternal leaves are not yet included.
With over 1.4 million people residing in the country, Bahrain is one of the 30 countries which require companies to give their employees an annual leave of 30 days. Countries included in the list are Finland, France, Spain, Austria, and other GCC countries like Kuwait, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates.
Recently, the UAE government has announced that employees working in public and private sectors will get the same number of holidays.
