The dry season has kicked in the Philippines and resident’s in the country’s capital region has been experiencing hotter days since.
According to PAGASA, the heat index, which measures the level of discomfort the average person is thought to experience as a result of the combined effects of the temperature and humidity of the air, has reached 40.8°C in Pasay City Saturday, reported GMA News.
So far, that has been the highest heat index recorded in the National Capital Region so far this year.
Likewise, several areas in Metro Manila have also experienced the hottest temperature this year as it reached its highest level at 35.4°C, at on Saturday, recorded at the Science Garden in Quezon City.
Due to the rising temperature in the Philippines, the Department of Health has warned all residents regarding the effects of the high heat index, including heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
It has advised Filipinos to drink enough water and stay out of the sun to avoid experiencing the said effects.
