The number of illegal expats living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who have been deported due to residency and labor violations has reached 730,873 in the past 17 months, according to press reports.
Officials said 2,903,531 expats were arrested because of residency, labor regulations and border security violations while a total of 394,392 were handed over to their respective embassies and consulates in the kingdom to obtain travel documents.
On the other hand, 11, 197 expats were detained across the kingdom, some 9,569 of whom were men while 1,628 were women.
Reports also said that over 3,586 people who have been providing illegal expats with housing and transportation were caught.
Arrests and deportation in the kingdom are part of the Interior Ministry’s campaign, in coordination with the Directorate General of Passports and the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and other government departments, against illegal residents, which was launched on November 15, 2017 after the amnesty for visa overstayers and violators expired.
