The selfie of a Filipino woman at a park in Hong Kong on Friday turned into a fatal accident as she stumbled over the edge of a waterfall.
The victim, a 26-year-old OFW in Hong Kong, was in Tai Mo Shan Country Park in Tai Po when the accident happened.
Authorities quickly retrieved her unconscious body and airlifted her to Tuen Mun Hospital. Paramedics also gave her first aid on the way to the hospital. However, she was pronounced dead at 1:31 PM.
Authorities said the OFW worked as a customer service officer in a call centre of a finance company.
According to the report, she went hiking with her younger sister and four friends at around 9:00 AM that day. They reached the Ng Tung Chai Waterfall, but she fell 15 meters after she tried to take a selfie.
Her friends said that they were only able to hear a loud noise when her body fell into the water.
The waterfall, which mainly measures 35 meters tall, can be reached by taking a hike up Hong Kong’s highest peak – Tai Mo Shan.
