DUBAI: A post by The Filipino Times about the status of President Duterte’s much-awaited state visit to the UAE went trending online, proof that overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), who overwhelmingly voted for him in the 2016 presidential elections, have not lost steam waiting for him.
This video shows Ambassador Hjayceelyn Quintana discussing the possibility of that visit, explaining it’s all a matter of accommodating both parties’ availability.
Duterte got 51,879 or 83.5% of the total 62,103 actual votes in the UAE during the 2016 presidential election, according to the Philippine Embassy.
Duterte visited three Gulf States from April 10 to 16 in 2017, among them Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. It was his first visit to the Gulf.
The planned state visit to the UAE has been postponed three times.
