His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has praised the quick thinking and gritty policeman, who have risked his own life to save three families from a flooded valley in the city.
A Khaleej Times report told that Salem Hussain Al Huti, 25, was part of a rescue team that rushed to Wadi Bih, which has suffered a flash flood following heavy rains and thunderstorms.
At least three vehicles carrying eight people were trapped in the floodwaters, prompting Al Huti jumped into the rushing waters to help calm the people on board.
The policeman then tied the vehicles carrying two Emirati and one Asian families to the police’s 4WD vehicle
To pay tribute to the “act of heroism” by the policeman, H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi took on social media, saying “Al Huti showed great courage when he risked his life… did not hesitate to venture into fast-running water to help them and, with the assistance of his colleagues, deliver them to safety.”
