OFW who is less than a month into contract died after jumping from moving car

A 21-year-old overseas Filipino worker, who arrived in Australia less than a month ago, died after allegedly jumping off a moving vehicle.

The victim was identified as Jerwon Royupa, a resident of Calasiao, Pangasinan, who reportedly died due to critical bleeding in the head, chest, and abdomen.

Royupa’s family, however, believe that there was a foul play in his death, noting that the victim told them about his predicaments in Australia.

The OFW was also supposed to go back to the Philippines by end of this month, but his employers confiscated his passport, the victim’s sister Jamaica Buraga said.

“We have agreed to book Jerwin a flight back to Manila on March 30. How come he’s already being escorted to the airport on March 14,” Buraga said.

Royupa’s family is now seeking help from the Provincial Employment Services Officer-Pangasinan, which already endorsed the case to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
