The Department of Agriculture (DA) is now discussing possible tie-ups and trade agreements with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has expressed willingness to help the Philippine agriculture sector and benefit from the recent developments in the KSA economy.
During his visit on March 14, 2019, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) Adnan V. Alonto shared that the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) has expressed its interest in agriculture and encouraged the agri chief to make a pitch.
“We can come up with several project proposals within the context of their needs,” Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol stated.
“We can also travel to Saudi and present to them our proposals,” he added after the ambassador mentioned that Saudi Arabian delegates are set to visit the Philippines this year.
The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh and the DA will coordinate to conduct an agri-investment mission and propose tie-ups with agencies and establishments in the KSA.
