Motorist in UAE owes Dh1M in traffic fines

A motorist was apprehended by the traffic inspection team of Al Mamoura Police Station in Ras Al Khaimah for accumulating traffic violation fines worth Dh1,158,000.

The 23-year-old motorist racked up this huge amount of fines for multiple offenses including over 1,200 speeding tickets.

The fines were accumulated between November 2017 and this year. It is believed to be one of the largest value of the total traffic violations committed in the emirate’s roads during this period, said the authorities.

Colonel Waleed Mohammed Juma, head of Al Mamoura Police Station, said that the authorities found that the license of his vehicle was expired.

When they checked their system, they were shocked to find out the huge amount of penalty under the driver’s name.

For over-speeding alone, the driver already booked Dh1,000,000 penalties.
