Duterte revives hopes for EDSA traffic; Cubao to Makati in 5 minutes

President Rodrigo Duterte, who had earlier given up his plan to address the worsening traffic situation in Metro Manila, particularly along EDSA, is optimistic to solve the situation by September this year.

He noted that the government’s infrastructure projects is already in full swing.

In his speech during a campaign rally of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan in Isabela, Duterte said that travel time from along EDSA from Cubao to Makati will be just five minutes.

“Build Build Build in about… Give me until June, July or the latest September – Cubao, Makati, we’ll give you a ride in five minutes,” Duterte said.

Besides connecting elevated expressways and construction of MRT 7, the president said that Japan will be commencing with the construction of the Metro Manila Subway system that would connect northern part of Metro Manila to major financial centers.

To recall, Duterte in September last year said he would leave it to the next administration to fix the traffic situation in Metro Manila as he blamed Congress for refusing to grant him emergency powers.
