Suspect in gruesome murder of Cebu teen arrested in Davao

The suspect in the brutal killing of Christine Lee Silawan, the 16-year-old student who was murdered and skinned in Lapu-lapu City, has been arrested in Davao City by authorities on Friday afternoon.

Chief Insp. Milgrace Driz of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) confirmed that the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Jonas Bueno, was arrested in a joint operation conducted by their agency, the National Bureau of Investigation-XI, and the Mindanao Area Intelligence Office, reported Inquirer.net.

The source stated that the suspect reportedly went to Davao City to hide after the crime. Bueno has been working in a construction project in Matina Pangi village since he has arrived in the said city.

The suspect is now under police custody.

Authorities earlier said that there are three men involved in the said crime but there are no further reports about the two other suspects as of press time

As stated in previous reports, police believe that Silawan knew her killers personally because they had an exchange of messages.

The bounty for any information that will lead to the arrest of the killers reached P2 million.
