Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello on Tuesday said that the opinion of Special Envoy to China Ramon Tuflo against Filipino construction workers doesn’t carry much weight, saying “nobody actually listens” to someone who was never involved in the construction industry.
To recall, the Tulfo patriarch earned the ire of netizens over claims that he prefers Chinese construction workers because Filipinos are lazy and slowpoke.
Filipino construction workers here in the Philippines talk a lot and spend more time eating “merienda,” Tulfo added.
Because of his statement, labor groups and social media users urged Tulfo to a three-day immersion challenge to give President Rodrigo Duterte’s special envoy a chance to observe how construction workers behave in their workplaces.
Tulfo, however, stood firm on his claims saying that the construction sector should take his statement as a wake-up call and improve their work ethic.
