Sharjah Police foil armed robbery at hypermarket in record time

Two men found themselves behind bars after police foiled their attempt to rob a busy hypermarket in Sharjah.

According to a report by Gulf News quoting Brigadier Mohammad Rashid Bayat, director of Sharjah Police Operations, the two knife-wielding African robbers attacked the cashiers of Lulu Hypermarket on Al Wahda Road at around 11:42 pm and tried to flee with the cash box.

Unluckily for the duo, police got a tip from a anonymous caller about the heist, allowing nearby patrol to reach the site in record time.

One of the suspects was arrested on site, while the other one who managed to run away was nabbed by responding policemen less than five minutes after the incident.

The two suspects, who were not identified in the report, are now awaiting their first court appearance.
