WATCH: Dubai Metro’s Route 2020 is nearly complete

The Route 2020 Project, an extension of the Red Line of Dubai Metro to Expo 2020 site, is almost reaching its completion as seen in a video released by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

RTA said via Twitter that the project, which is a 15 km track from Nakheel Harbour and Tower Station, is 80% complete on the rail track work and 50-60% for the station works.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai RTA, visited the Expo Station, which is one of the main stations, reported Khaleej Times.

The Expo Station is a multi-level structure with a ground floor, mezzanine, concourse, and a train platform level.

Once completed, the Expo Station is expected to accommodate 522,000 passengers daily in both directions.

Al Tayer also inspected the Al Furjan Station, and the Nakheel Harbour and Tower Station.

Carriages for the projects have started arriving since August 2018, and rail work is expected to be finished by May 2019.

RTA will start the test-run of the metro in February 2020.
