Here are the top trending new stories.

President Duterte has signed a measure tasking the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to produce a handbook for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) detailing their rights as well as the advantages and disadvantages of opting to work overseas.

Republic Act No. 11227, known as the Handbook for OFWs Act of 2018, aims to empower OFWs “by providing them with standard printed information” that will contain existing migrant laws in the Philippines and will tackle social and labor laws of the country of destination of the OFW.

The handbook should also contain instructions for reintegration of OFW returnees to the Philippines. Likewise, POEA will also be tasked to provide a gender-sensitive pre-employment orientation seminar that will discuss the content of the handbook in detail including the rights and responsibilities of OFWs.

Meantime, also trending was an advisory by the Abu Dhabi Police urging motorists to take precautionary measures and drive safely in light of the unstable weather being experienced in the past few days.

Motorists have been urged to comply with the Safety Traffic Committee’s decision and drive at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, maintain a safe following distance and avoid applying brakes suddenly, to prevent the risk of skidding when roads are slippery.

Likewise, trending is a news report about an architect who fell to his death in an elevator shaft, walking right through the door which did not have warning signs and thinking it leads to the toilet.

The accident happened around 9 pm last Saturday. The architect, identified as Michael Alfonso
was found on top of the elevator box and was extricated almost 2 hours after the accident.

Last but definitely not the least, is a trending news about word that Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin walked out of the set of “The General’s Daughter, her comeback on primetime TV, reportedly over issues with the series’ director, who cussed a lot after shooting a scene with actor JC de Vera.
