An Asian worker died while three others sustained injuries on Sunday, February 24, after a crane collapsed in a construction site in Abu Dhabi.
According to Abu Dhabi Police, police and rescue units were immediately deployed to the scene following a report to the Command and Control Centre.
Three workers sustained moderate to serious injuries and were rushed to the Al Rahba Hospital and Al Mafraq Hospital. Another worker, however, was declared dead.
Lt. Col. Ibrahim Ali Jalal Al Baloushi, Director of the Rapid Intervention Department at the Directorate of Emergency and Public Safety, reminded construction companies to conduct regular maintenance of cranes to avoid similar incidents.
Al Baloushi said that workers in construction companies must be given safety tools and equipment at all times.
