Google to open free WiFi stations, job search portal for Filipinos

Google Philippines announced on Wednesday, February 13, that it is set to offer new services for its Filipino users – free WiFi stations in several public spaces in the country and a new job search feature for Filipino jobseekers.

According to Google Philippines, the new job search feature, which will be named “Jobs on Google Search”, will be collating different job posting from different websites including job posts from government agencies such as the Department of Labor and Employment and Civil Service Commission, reported ABS-CBN News.

“This experience will be unique because we surface diverse job postings from hundreds of websites,” said Google Asia-Pacific Product Partnerships manager Stacie Chan.

Jobseekers can also filter the results depending on location, and job type, among others.

More than 500,000 job postings is expected to be available in the following weeks.

Free WiFi stations

Google will also be opening several WiFi stations with faster connections across the country such as airports and trains and bus stations by the end of the month.

Google Stations will also be opened in malls and markets.

“Access to information plays a great role in the everyday lives of people. It creates opportunities for individuals and businesses to learn and grow and that is why we want to bring high quality internet to more Filipinos across the country and create positive impact on their lives,” said global director for Next Billion Users Partnership Mahesh Bhalerao.
