FAMILY GATHERING GONE WRONG: Two dead in car crash in UAE

Two members of an Indian family attending a family reunion were killed on Tuesday, February 12, after their vehicle flipped over multiple times on a road in Sharjah.

The casualties, who were identified as an Indian couple Rohinibahen Vinodbhai Patel and Vinodbhai Patel, were riding the vehicle with five other family members and a driver when their vehicle flipped on Al Nazawi Road while on their way home from a desert safari, reported Khaleej Times.

Rohinibahen was pronounced dead on the spot while her husband Vinodbhai died of cardiac arrest at a hospital hours after the incident.

The remaining five family members in the vehicle, including two children, sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital. The driver also sustained injuries.

Investigation showed that the driver was speeding before losing control of the vehicle.

The family was visiting the UAE for a family reunion after not seeing each other for 12 years. They were supposedly set to leave the UAE on the night of the accident.
