GDFRA launches app for Emirates ID, visa renewal

UAE residents and visitors can now renew their visa and Emirates ID at the comfort of their homes as the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDFRA) launched an online app for it.

Colonel Arif Al Shamsi, director general of GDRFA Sharjah, said that an application form has been made available in the app which will allow residents to apply for the renewal of their residence and visit visas, as well as their Emirates ID, reported Khaleej Times.

Those applying for renewal need to submit scanned copies of their Emirates ID and valid passport, among others.

Moreover, their documents can be renewed as fast as one to three days compared to the two-week waiting time.

However, companies and sponsors applying for workers who are outside the country need to wait for up to one week, while those renewing their visit visa have to allot enough time for the renewal process before their visit visa expires. Visit visa renewal applicants need to pay Dh500.

Those who submitted their application for renewal can also monitor the progress of their request for renewal through the app.

The app is available on Play Store for Android mobiles, and App Store for Apple phone users.
