VIRAL: Chinese national throws ‘taho’ at MRT guard

Netizens were angered after photos of a Chinese woman who threw a cup of taho or soy bean custard to a security guard of the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 3 (MRT-3) went viral on social media.

The Chinese national who was later identified as 23-year-old fashion design student Jiale Zhang has since been arrested and charged with direct assault, disobedience to person in authority, and unjust vexation for what she did to PO1 William Cristobal of the Philippine National Police Regional Mobile Force Battalion’s (PNP-RMBF) 4th Mobile Company.

According to online reports, Zhang threw a fit when she got blocked from entering the MRT Boni station because she was not allowed to take her taho inside the train.

Both the MRT and the LRT banned passengers from bringing bottled waters, perfumes, alcohol, beverages, and other liquids inside the trains for added security measure following the twin bombing in Jolo, Sulu on January 27.

However, while other passengers just leave their unconsumed liquids to the security, Zhang decided to throw her taho at Cristobal causing her arrest.

The Department of Transportation-Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (DOTr-MRT-3) management said that they released Zhang after she apologized through an initial statement.

However, the Mandaluyong police said that Zhang was booked and detained for disobedience to agent or person in authority, direct assault, and unjust vexation.

The DOTr further said in an interview with INQUIRER.net that they are thinking of banning the Chinese national from riding the MRT-3.

Netizens, however, say that Zhang should face deportation for what she did to the officer.
