A 24-member gang, who scams UAE residents by sending them messages informing that they’ve won a huge amount of cash prize, was netted by authorities in the Capital.
They will be tried in court for promising unsuspecting victims bogus huge amount of cash, and claiming that they are working for big companies in the UAE.
Absurd though this sounds, people do fall for their trap, despite the awareness campaigns by law enforcement.
The gang would ask their victims to transfer money to their account as ‘processing fee’ for the prize.
The perpetrators admitted involvement in the crime as well as the resale of the victim’s telephone stock.
They were all referred to the judicial authorities.
