Int’l, local journalists gather to discuss pressing PH gov’t issues

A number of journalists from around the globe on Thursday, January 17, gathered to attend the Philippines Prospects Conference at The Peninsula Hotel Manila in Makati City.

The conference, organized by the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (FOCAP), sought to discuss different pressing government issues faced by the country including national economy, law and order, territorial disputes, and migrant Filipinos’ concerns, among others.

Among the guest speakers in the event include Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Supreme Court Justice Antonio Carpio, Philippine National Police Director General Oscar Albayalde, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Deputy Governor Diwa Guinigundo, and former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales.

International news agencies present in the event include The Filipino Times, Reuters, Agence France-Presse and local news agencies ABS-CBN, TV 5, and CNN Philippines, among others.

The FOCAP is a group of journalists in different news agencies covering political and socioeconomic developments in the Philippines.
