Man arrested for selling stolen phone to original owner

A man in Calamba, Laguna was arrested for unintentionally selling the phone he stole to its original owner.

According to the victim’s daughter, her mother was walking along a road when her phone was snatched by the suspect identified as Richardson Garcia, reported GMA News.

“Tin-ry kong i-track yung cellphone kaso wala na, hindi ko na siya ma-track. Ibig sabihin, ni-reset na niya,” the victim’s daughter said.

To her surprise, however, she saw the mobile phone being sold online by the suspect and decided to pretend as a buyer.

The victim met with Garcia who was immediately arrested by the police.

Following the arrest, Garcia said that he only found the phone and did not steal it from anyone.

The victim, meanwhile, opted not to press charges against Garcia after the suspect’s mother appealed that she will be the one to bring her son to the police station if he repeats the crime.
