Dubai introduces new 2-year licence for visiting medical practitioners

The Dubai Healthcare City Authority has introduced a new 2-year license which will allow international physicians, dentists, and Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) practitioners to gain access to the country and attain a job there.

With the help of the new “Visiting Doctor’s License”, the said medical practitioners will be able to practice their profession in the country for two years by working in up to three clinical facilities within the Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) free zone, reported Khaleej Times.

They will be able to do so once they have obtained the Letter of Acceptance, which will confirm their eligibility to work in the country, and signed a contract with a clinical facility.

What’s special about this license is that its holders will be able to sponsor their families during the validity period.

Dr Ramadan AlBlooshi, CEO, Dubai Healthcare City Authority – Regulatory (DHCR) said that allowing foreign medical practitioners to work in the country through the said license will help in improving the services given to citizens.

As of the moment, visiting doctors can practice temporarily in the free zone only through a license obtained by the clinical facilities. The said license is valid for a three-month-period; with the option to extend by an additional three months only.

Eligible medical professionals can start applying for the new license on January 20. A special Arab Health license fee rate will be offered from that date until January 31. Interested applicant may visit the e-services portal, Masaar, to apply.
