The Ras Al Khaimah Municipality will auction off 104 unclaimed vehicles that have been impounded for more than six months.
“Some of these vehicles were left abandoned on public roads and squares, while others were left around scrap outlets for a long time,” said Munzir bin Shukr Al Zaabi, director general of the RAK Municipality.
A report from Khaleej Times furthers that the vehicles initially had warning letters before they were impounded. “As the owners of these vehicles failed to remove them on time (10 days), it resulted in their impoundment,” said Al Zaabi.
The law states that all unclaimed and/or abandoned vehicles which were impounded will end up being sold in a public auction after six months from the date the car was initially brought in.
Prior to the auction, the owners of the vehicles still have time to get their cars but only after paying their dues.
Details of the auction will be announced soon.
