Airport authorities prepare for holiday rush

Dubbed as “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2018,” the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) up their game to welcome and process the wave of yuletide travelers coming in and out of the country.

In a news from ABS CBN, the operation will be help from December 10 to January 05 next year. “To ensure safe, reliable, and convenient airport operations as Filipinos and tourists travel for the Christmas and New Year, the country’s aviation authority will be putting in place added security measures and will be observing maximum deployment of service and security personnel,” CAAP said.

Part of the measure to ensure all posts are manned, the agency will be having a “no leave, no day-off” policy.

Additional electronic gates were installed in Cebu, Davao and and Manila terminals to help ease the queues.

Delay-defying measures

The agency advises travelers to be at the airport 2-3 hours prior to their actual flight. Note that this leeway is on top of the estimated travel time from the home to the airport. As traffic has become heavier even outside holiday season, it is best to be smart and allot as much time as possible to avoid the hassle of missing your flight.

Keep it close

Cash, gadgets, jewelry, travel documents should be kept in one’s hand-carry. Medicines are best declared and should be brought in with prescription. Cash that exceeds $10,000 should be declared to custom officers. Refer to travel reminders posted in and around the airport to know what other items need to be declared.
