An Emirati man in Dubai was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday, December 5, after killing his friend using a sword.
The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the Emirati man of premeditated murder, after stabbing his friend to death using a 50cm-long sword (almost 20 inches) reported Gulf News.
The suspect told his friend to meet with him in a residential area in Oud Al Muteena in Dubai. When the two met at the area, the suspect pulled out the sword and stabbed his friend to death.
A policeman, who was on his way home, saw the incident and helped the victim while the suspect rode his bike to escape.
The policeman also called the police and an ambulance for the victim to receive medical attention. The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital but eventually died due to injuries.
The suspect also turned himself to the authorities without the knowledge that his friend had died from the attack.
Before the court, the suspect was also convicted of consuming amphetamine and methamphetamine. It was also revealed that the suspect was sane after specialists assessed his mental condition.
