Another vehicle with No. 8 car plate seized near NAIA

Another vehicle bearing a license plate number 8 — assigned to a member of the House of Representatives — spotted near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) was impounded by the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group.

The van was along Domestic Road in Pasay City on Saturday at around 3:00 PM when it was seized by the authorities, reported Inquirer.net.

Chief Supt. Roberto Fajardo, director of PNP-HPG, said that the driver was not able to present documents of the vehicle so his Hyundai Starex was impounded for further verification and presentation of proper documents.

A week ago, Operatives from Police Regional Office 3 and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested the driver Jojo Valerio after he got involved in two road rage incidents while driving a Toyota FJ Cruiser with the number 8 car plate.

On separate incidents, the police were also able to confiscate two more vehicles — a red Chevrolet Suburban and a black Ford E150 — which were also using the number 8 car plate. The Chevrolet Suburban even had stickers of logos of the Office of the President on the front windshield and of the House of Representatives on the rear windshield.

Fajardo has previously said that the Land Transportation Office has not released new number 8 car plates since the 16th Congress. If a motorist is caught using a vehicle with an unauthorized plate, he or she will have his or her vehicle confiscated and will face a fine worth P5,000.
