Etihad Credit Insurance launches 18-week extensive training program to understand export credit insurance

Dubai, UAE: Etihad Credit Insurance (ECI), the UAE Federal export credit company, announced its latest initiative, the National Accelerator Programme, an extensive 18-week training that has been especially designed for young Emirati nationals to give them a better understanding of government export credit insurance.

Through this programme, ECI commits to an environment of holistic development and continuous learning for the participants, energising them with purpose and passion to support the ECI strategy. Committed to the country’s goals, the company invests in the potential of UAE nationals, and in improving their skill set as well as knowledge transfer.

The participants were introduced in a launching event of the programme held recently. They embarked on an 18-week programme with sessions being held at ECI premise and at the Youth Hub (Youth x Hub) located in Emirates Towers Boulevard, Dubai, UAE. The programme will conclude on February 14, 2019.

The National Accelerator Programme is aimed at giving candidates an increased awareness on the significance of export credit institutions – its set-up, policy objectives and key product offerings. The programme has been divided into four key phases–competencies development (8 weeks), theories and principles (2 weeks), technical training (2 weeks) and on-the-job-training (6 weeks). Each phase of the programme will be mentored by leading industry professionals including an academician from a reputed institution, Offenburg University; and a specialist in credit and political risk, Jerry Friend; who will handle the second and third phases of the programme, respectively; in addition to lecturers from ALF (Advance Learning Formula) Administration Training.

The programme is focused on further developing the participants’ competencies and educating them about important aspects of the credit insurance industry. It also includes a technical training phase that covers an introduction to trade credit insurance, underwriting and claims.

Massimo Falcioni, CEO, ECI, said: “We are proud to announce the launch of the National Accelerator Programme, an initiative that is geared towards developing a new generation of export credit insurance professionals, preparing them for significant roles and functions in the export credit industry. Indeed, this new programme reflects our continuing efforts towards Emiratisation.”

Safiya Al Matrooshi, Director Human Capital, ECI, said: “Candidates who entered the programme are expected to further develop and enhance their soft skills, preparing them for a career in ECI. The last phase of training will be highlighted with comprehensive on-the-job-training sessions that seek to familiarise themselves with ECI’s products and work processes under the tutelage of in-house training officers.”
