UAE residents and people from all over the world can witness how KhalifaSat rockets into the space as the launch of the first Emirate-built satellite will be broadcasted live.

According to a report by WAM, millions of people across the globe can watch KhalifaSat as it launches into the skies at 8:00AM (UAE local time) tomorrow, October 29, via MBRSC’s official website at mbrsc.ae/khalifasat.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC)’s website currently shows a countdown clock to the launch, set at exactly 8:08am. The event will also be live on Dubai TV and other channels including YouTube.

KhalifaSat, the first ever satellite to be built by a 70-member team of Emirati engineers, will be launched from the Yoshinobu Complex at the JAXA Tanegashima Space Center in Japan through an H-IIA rocket.

This event will mark a breakthrough for the national space industry. Moreover, this is also seen to strengthen UAE’s position among the world’s leading countries in space technology manufacturing.

Images provided by KhalifaSat will be used in urban planning and management as well as monitoring environmental changes such as oil spills, land contamination, and water quality.

This is the third UAE satellite to set off into space following DubaiSat-1 and DubaiSat-2. The satellite is named after the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
