New tech deals to improve Dubai fire safety

The General Directorate of Civil Defense (DCD) in Dubai signs deal with technology companies to upgrade the government’s fire prevention system.

The digital transformation project will allow DCD to improve it response and fire prevention capabilities—which will enable them to elude wasting time and resources on false alarms.

“With people’s safety being our top priority, we strive to stay abreast of the industry’s latest technology innovations to deliver exceptional and efficient services,” said Ali Hassan Al Mutawa, assistant director-general of the Dubai Civil Defense for Prevention and Protection.

“Our collaboration with Avaya will enable us to improve our responsiveness to fire alarms and thus enhance citizens’ satisfaction and happiness,” Al Mutawa added.

Likewise, Sheikha Na’amah Al Qassimi, general manager, Dubai & Northern Emirates at Avaya, said that this project will boost the UAE government’s public safety capabilities across the country.

In 2017, DCD and Avaya launched a drone-based emergency-response system using video technologies to mitigate fire and traffic accidents.
