Abu Dhabi Police: Beware of ‘cheap flat’ ads

Abu Dhabi Police have warned UAE residents against circulating ‘cheap flat’ ads and real estate scams online.

Brigadier Mohammed Suhail Al Rashidi, acting director of the Criminal Security Sector of the Abu Dhabi Police, cautioned individuals seeking accommodations and lodgings to be wary of advertisements on the Internet or social media, reported Khaleej Times.

These advertisements online, according to him, could be fake and cost individuals their hard-earned money.

Many cases of fraud and bogus real estate deals were recently recorded by the Abu Dhabi Police, as stated on their Instagram account.

Abu Dhabi Police also warned that conmen of real estate scams usually use counterfeit contracts, with names of fake companies.

To avoid being a victim of this fraud scheme, the police warn to ensure that all rent contracts must be issued and validated from authorized government agencies.

Brigadier Musallam Mohamed El Ameri, director of the Directorate of Police of External Areas said that the police are raising awareness about real estate frauds to mitigate such crimes.
