9-year-old Filipina to represent New Zealand in WCOPA

Nine-year-old Filipina opera singer Jazz Dacanay Vidamo has been chosen as New Zealand’s representative in the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Hollywood next year.

The talented singer is born of Filipino parents and comes from a family of musicians, according to a report by ABS-CBN News.

Vidamo started singing at the of two, and has been competing and performing since she was 5 years old.

She said that she started to learn singing ‘opera’ just last year. Afterwards, the kid wonder competed in singing competitions abroad that include Hamilton Competitions Society, Opera Idol, Rotorua’s Talent & Variety Show and the Waipa Music Festival.

“In between school, competitions and voice training, I am also involved in musical theater. I am so excited of what lies ahead of me and I’m blessed to have you all in this journey,” she stated on Facebook.

Vidamo will be representing New Zealand in the next year’s WCOPA to be held in July 2019.
