WATCH: Driverless grocery displayed at GITEX Technology Week

The world-famous driverless grocery is currently in Dubai as one of the technologies displayed at the GITEX Tech Week 2018.

In a Facebook post, Founder & CEO Ali Ahmed of the driverless grocery, also called as Robomart, is seen presenting the technology to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

The driverless store is the first of its kind in the world which functions as a store-on-wheels. Customers only have to call for a Robomart through the app and the grocery-on-wheels will go to the location of the buyer. In essence, calling for a Robomart is like booking a taxi ride.

Through Robomart, consumers no longer have to go to stores or wait in line for checkout as transactions with the grocery-on-wheels are cashless. The products sold by Robomart include fruits and vegetables, among others.

Robomarts are still currently being tested for commercial use in the United States. However, its owners have expressed interest in expanding to Dubai soon.
