Maltreated Filipina in Kuwait returns home to PH

The Filipina domestic helper who received maltreatment from her employers in Kuwait for months has finally returned home.

Through the assistance of Philippine authorities, the overseas worker Corazon Abiasada was able to return home to her hometown in Bacolod City last October 9.

According to PNA, her employers—a Kuwaiti and Lebanese couple—would physically and verbally abuse her often.

“My employer told me that she would cut my tongue and throw me out of the window,” Abiasada narrated. There was also an instance when her male employer asked her to touch his private part, but she refused.

After receiving different forms of maltreatment, she sought out her employment agencies for help but failed to aid her.

Her condition overseas was made known to authorities after her mother and aunt asked help from their local government office.

The local post got in touch with lawyer Edwin Bael, consultant on overseas Filipino workers at the Office of the President, and coordinated with the Kuwaiti authorities.

Shortly after, Abiasada’s family was informed that the Filipina has a ticket flight home to the Philippines.
