Trillanes won’t run for 2019 elections

Senator Antonio Trillanes announced he is not running for any elective post in the upcoming elections this 2019, while taking a swipe at Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.

“Ipapakita natin kay Mr. Duterte na kahit wala ka sa puwesto, kaya mo siyang tindigan, basta nasa tama ka,” Trillanes stated during a press conference.

When asked if the voiding of his amnesty is what stopped him from seeking an elective post again, he said: “Marami na rin akong kaso before. Hindi naman naging hadlang ‘yan.”

Last September 5, President Rodrigo Duterte voided the senator’s amnesty claiming that Trillanes failed to file an application for amnesty.

Senator Trillanes who is currently on bail denied that his decision to not run for the 2019 elections is because of the amnesty issues. “Marami na rin akong kaso before. Hindi naman naging hadlang ‘yan,” he said.

The Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 148, meanwhile, is expected to issue a decision soon to resolve the Department of Justice’s request to issue a warrant of arrest against the senator for his previous coup d’etat charges.
