WATCH: Did Roque change tune on Duterte’s OFW kiss?

Former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque admits that he personally found President Rodrigo Duterte’s controversial kiss with an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) inappropriate.

During an episode of ABS-CBN’s Gandang Gabi Vice last Sunday, host Vice Ganda asked Roque if he has observed any inappropriate acts or doings of the president during his service as the spokesperson.

“Naniniwala ho ba kayo na mayroon syang [Pres. Duterte] nasasabi minsan na hindi appropriate?” host Vice Ganda asked.

Meron naman siyempre… Naku, unang-una ‘yung kissing. Akala ko mamamatay ako nun. ‘Yung kissing in Korea,” Roque stated in the interview, pertaining to the president’s meeting with the Filipino in South Korea last June 3 where he kissed an OFW on the lips.

Amid criticisms from netizens, Roque immediately defended the president from the controversy then saying that the kiss is widely accepted in the Filipino culture.

When the TV host asked him why he’s stating a different opinion now from four months ago, Roque said he was only doing his job to defend the president.
