Facebook to test ‘Unsend Message’ feature soon

A new Facebook Messenger feature that enables senders to quickly delete any messages that they have recently sent is now in its testing phase as per one of TechCrunch’s tipsters.

Jane Manchun Wong discovered that Facebook has now been working on the “Unsend Message” feature that will allow the sender to delete the message they have just sent, within a certain time limit. Wong discovered the feature using her Messenger on Android and took to Twitter to share screenshots about the feature.

At present, Facebook allows deleting messages but only on the part of the sender – the message will remain on the recipients’ inbox.

Once patched and ready to go, the “Unsend Message” feature will be an available option that will appear on top of the “Delete Message” option. The message will then disappear for both the sender and the recipient, similar to WhatsApp’s delete message function, but without any notifications.

A Facebook spokesperson confirmed with TechCrunch that: “Facebook internally tests products and features before they ship to the public so we can ensure the quality of the experience.”
