Unpaid rent? Landlords in Abu Dhabi can now easily evict erring tenants

by | News

A new regulation in Abu Dhabi will allow landlords to easily evict erring tenants in as fast as two days for cases of unpaid rents and other rental-related disputes.

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), issued a decision wherein landlords can seek the help of Enforcement Department to claim unpaid rents or ask tenants to vacate their places, reported Khaleej Times.

The Rental Dispute Committee gives enforcement authorities to take action in behalf of the landlords who registered rental contracts with Abu Dhabi Municipality.

Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, said: “This initiative supports the efforts to create an attractive environment for real estate investment in Abu Dhabi by enhancing the confidence of real estate owners and tenants in an efficient litigation mechanism that ensures simplification of procedures and speedy settlement of disputes.”

He said the new decision will be promptly enforced to save a lot of time and efforts.

“The new measure is likely to shorten the proceedings at the courts of first instance and appeal, to reduce the number of rental disputes and to regulate the rental system in Abu Dhabi,” he said.
